Reviews:Fist On Heart For Scotland - Stars unite for Tartan Army.
Well, I've finally heard it - Scotia Nostra's World Cup song - 'Scotland By Our Side' - and in my opinion, it's brilliant.
Just what Craig Brown's lads need to hear as they take to the pitch to do battle. The skirl of bagpipes mixed with stirring, patriotic lyrics.
And the names behind the song are equally impressive. Take your pick from Fish, Jim Prime ex-Deacon Blue, former Bad Boys Eric Rowan and George Ross Watt, as well as ex-Horse men Steve Vantsis and Dave Stewart and Bruce Watson - formerly of Big Country.
And the song has every cliché in the book poured on it. Fish said: "Pipes and drums, you name it, we will include it. This is going to be the stuff that the nation will be proud of - real fist over the heart stuff. I'm proud to be Scottish and I think the song is a perfect example of this. It certainly isn't one of these slash your wrists type songs."
The song is currently being remastered and hopefully it won't be long before it's on the streets. Sorry Del Amitri - but it's round one to Scotia Nostra! Scottish Daily Mirror, 23rd April 98
