Reviews:
Well I received my copy of the German Convention video yesterday. It's pretty good, I mean with any concert, they're always a lot of fun to be there in person. However, there's a few interesting things. First off, it was the "penultimate" show with the classic line-up. After the Malta gig a couple weeks after this (as we know by now) Fish disbanded the classic Boult/Usher/Squeaky/Simmonds/Vantsis band. Also it's probably the only time you'll see Fish do Chasing and Mr. Buttons. Apart from that it's the standard set we've heard on the "Tales From..." CD. Although there is an excellent version of Hotel Hobbies, That Time Of, Warm Wet Circles. Also Kayleigh is followed by Lavender and Heart of Lothian.
Mickey Simmonds also shows us at the end that he can drink as well as Fish. We also get to see a shy Jurgen from the German Company take his kudos on stage.
It's all shot from one camera and the sound is at times muddy however just for the setlist and the amazing musicianship, I would recommend it.

Maybe it is because of the fact that I was not in Haddington, but in Duisburg at the Germany Convention last year that I like the video even more. The setlist is almost the same, the medleys (both in full length), Worm in a Bottle with Fish "forcing" every member of the band to drink out of his bottle of red wine (but nobody really refusing.. ;-D), but the essential difference is the first performance of Mr. Buttons and Chasing Miss Pretty, and as somebody stated, maybe the only one that will ever be available. This concert is about 140 mins long, ends with IE and The Company in a short (it was close to midnight) but very nice version. The quality is fine, though filmed with only one camera above the audience, and the sound quality is only little below the Haddy tapes (although it seems that the vocals sometimes go a bit muddy, but as the instruments are clear, I guess that is a problem of the mix at the concert). Even though I've read already that it was a single camera video it actually didn't come off that bad (maybe except for some minor camera movement and blurryness. Sound was fine.
It's nice to finally have a complete Fish concert. Sound was fine and I liked the track choices (hmmm heavy on the M side for the second part).
Fish's comments abour Clinton and Lewinsky were funny (figuring the German portions which I can't fully understand). Also a bit on the hilarious side was Fish's beer tasting.
Usher seemed to be concentrating on the guitar work (I guess he was out of practice on the Fish material).
Still a good buy at over 2 hours. Even the cover was excellent - actually better than the Kettle cover!
