He can write a nice tune, but just cannot sing.

and Morissey can't dance. Elton John can't dance either. And Genesis.

Worms can't dance because the don't have balls.

But can you dance Bob ;)

No, I just nod my head and tap me foot, in case I spill my beer.

Like many of the contributors on this forum I love Genesis.

There is just one song that I have real difficulty with....
Invisible Touch
I hate it. And yet its apparently their most popular and most successful song.
Am I only the one ?

Certainly not one of my favourites, but I like it to a degree. It came off the back of quite a decent LP, "Domino" standing out for me.

Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme were easily their best albums over the years, though they did evolve with the times. Though it'd be a commercial disaster, I'd love to hear things like this recorded today, especially given the technology at their fingertips now. I've got both LP's mentioned on vinyl with the gatefold sleeves, sadly not on CD, and sadder still, I have no record player. Both discs and sleeves are in mint condition too.

I just don't get.......why Fish and Marillion are the only prog rock i'm really into in a big way. - My God, i've tried stuff like Genesis, Pink Floyd and others, but i just haven't taken to it. - That said, i don't mind a bit of Porcupine Tree.

Interesting. As Genesis, Floyd and Yes were often quoted as Marillions' main influences when they started.

Early Peter Gabriel stuff was always a bit too 'weird' for my liking. All that business of prancing about on stage in a sunflower costume or whatever it was. - I'm sorry, i'm showing my complete ignorance here! I haven't heard enough early Genesis stuff to be able to say how similar Marillion were to them. - All i know is that Marillion's music and lyrics captured my heart and mind from the age of twelve, and they've stayed with me ever since. - Other artists have done the same, but they've been in completely different genres.

I like Procol Harum, and they've done some quite 'proggy' stuff.- Masterpieces like 'A Salty Dog', that take you on a dramatic musical journey.

I have very little time for Genesis. Not rocky enough for me. Invisible Touch was a pop song and took the band to an all time low, but an all time popular high at the same time.
