Mrs Brown Boys. Predictable, dubbed laughter, unfunny...

Well the laughter isn't dubbed as it's recorded in front to of a studio audience (a coleague went and hey held up cards telling them when to laugh!) but I agree, it is a funny as piles, might have been funny in the 70s, possibly ;-)

Never watched it. It's certainly very popular, so thought I was missing something. :)

you will find that the audience laughter is usually over dubbed with additional laughter to create a larger/fuller audience sound.. as are many comedies filmed in front of live audience.. been to a few myself, usually Radio comedy quizzes.

So do you still only go for the 'rocky stuff' Bob, or have you warmed to Genesis yet? :?

one word.. Marmite....

from Folk to rock, I have a wide musical taste, but in the prog areas, I defientley prefer the heavier sound, cant stand all that wailing and wandering off on long esoteric self indulgent meanderings of somnabulative coma inducing crud that so many prog bands churn out...

Been to one or two myself including some featuring a certain Mr Dick ;-)
It's very rare to add a laugh track on top of a studio recorded laugh, they just don't sound the same .

It's probably more likely that the volume is fiddled with when the audience laughs to get the right 'mood'. Sometimes it's boosted - sometimes pulled back slightly. It's quite an art to get right, especially on sitcoms where you might find the audience could drown out the dialogue.

What some shows (especially live-recorded ones) like to do is get the audience to cheer before the show to 'meter' them, and then they can use these recordings to play at the point they want a certain level of 'whoop' over the random audience response.

That's showbusiness :)

Its regularly double tracked ... The audience sound recording, replayed on delay to fatten the sound.... Also called dubbing. ..

It happens.

I don't get why advertisers are allowed to compress and mix the audio to make the ads seem so much louder than the actual programmes.
