The Truculent Jet Stream

My understanding of The Jet Stream is that it is currently in an unusual position for June/July and that it's position is contributing to our rubbish Summer weather; in principle, I understand how this happens in terms of how it influences the behaviour of Fronts etc, but what no-one can seem to explain is exactly why The JS is in the 'wrong' position just now - any takers for an Idiot's Guide To The Jet Stream?

I wouldn't be suprised if the position of The Jet Stream has been finagled into it's current location by a Govt Conspiracy involving cloud-seeding and Weather Front manipulation etc, their motivation being our preoccupation with the shit weather rather than their shit administration. That said, a friend of mine [honestly, it's a real friend, it's not a "friend"] is convinced that the sonic boom that occured about a month ago was actually a deliberate attempt to make it rain after the early-Spring drought; it did start raining a few hours after the sonic boom so he may have a point

sadly there is no connection that sonic booms cause any form of precipitation, except a downfall of complaints and a torrent of insurance claims.. And the current evidence on cloud seeding experiments have proven that 50% of the time it doesn't work, and on the occassions when it did work, it probably woukd have rained anyway.


The current shift in the jet stream is more attributable to the solar activity, and magnetic impulses thereof, earlier this year which gave the North of England the unexpected views of the Aurora Borealis..

Amazing how the "government" one way or another ends up with the blame for the weather!
