Favourite Guitar Solo

Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:03 pm

We all love the Guitar, why else would we be into music...

So what's you favourite guitar Solo or solo's ?
I'd prob go for one of those hair stand up on the back of your neck moments ;) -

"Pink Floyd" - Comfortably Numb/High Hopes
or "Arena" - The Visitor
or even "Marillion" - Chelsea Monday .........

There's 1000's out there the choice is yours :D

Well, there's many, but at the moment I'm really loving the guitars on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird. Formerly Allen Collins, but now Gary Rossington. - Not sure it can be classed as a 'solo', as all three guitarists are integral to it.

I'll post more as I think of them! ;)

Now there's a challenge !

A few I can think of now ;)

Comfortably Numb (Live - probably the Pulse version is best)
India/Mountain Time - Joe Bonamassa
Easter - Marillion (Steve Rothery)
Sugar Mice - Marillion (Steve Rothery)
Eruption - Van Halen (Eddie Van Halen)
Like a Hurricane (Live Verion) - Neil Young
Mr Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne (Randy Rhodes - I'm just discovering that he was an exceptional guitarist)
November Rain; Sweet Child of Mine - Guns n Roses - (Also heard a Slash solo track called Anastacia on Planet Rock at the weekend that had some impressive guitar.
There was a time - Guns n Roses - (Richard Fortus) absolutely awesome guitars on their Chinese Democracy album.
Firth of Fifth (Live) - Genesis (Daryl Sturmer or Steve Hackett)
Hotel California - Eagles (Don Felder and Joe Walsh)
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits (Mark Knopfler)
Reeling in the years - Steely Dan (Eliot Randall - supposedly Jimmy Page's favourite guitar solo)
Loads of Queen solos - Brighton Rock, Bohemian Rhapsody, Scandal, I want it All, Killer Queen, Bijou, Hammer to Fall etc (Brian May)
Since Ive Been Loving You - Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page)
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page)
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd (Rossington, Collins, Gaines)
Beat It - Michael Jackson (Eddie Van Halen)
La Ville Strangiato; Limelight; YYZ; Kid Gloves; Freewill; Xanadu - Rush (Alex Lifeson)
Carry on Wayward Son - Kansas (Kerry Livgren)
Black Rose (Garry Moore/Scott Goreham); Since Ive Been Loving You (Live) (Brian Robertson) - Thin Lizzy
Parisienne Walkways - Gary Moore
Go Your Own Way; I'm So Afraid; Murrow turning over in his grave; Come - Fleetwood Mac (Lindsey Buckingham) (The Say You Will Album has loads of great guitar solos)
Lets go Crazy - Prince
Stockholm Syndrome; Knights of Cydonia - Muse (Matt Bellamy)
Surfing with the Alien - Joe Satriani (and numerous Chickenfoot solos that I cant think of
Dont fear the reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (Buck Dharma)
Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Motor Cycle Emptiness - Manic Street Preachers (James Dean Bradfield)
Alright Now - Free (Paul Kossoff)
Stargazer; Difficult to Cure; - Rainbow (Richie Blackmore)
Cliche (Live) - Fish (Frank Usher)

Cant think of any by Justin Bieber but I'm sure he is the best guitarist ever !
