Thanks Mark! ;)

Out of interest does anyone else find that fairly often you'll write something and on reading it back see that (quite unintentionally) you've included phrases from Fish's lyrics and that no matter how hard you try, you can't think of a replacement for that phrase that's anywhere near as good?

Seems to happen to me all the time!! :-[

Me too, but not with Fish's lyrics though, it's usually Douglas Adams (H2G2) or Pink Floyd. However, recently bits of Jon Anderson ‘nonsense’ phraseology have found its way into my scribbles - possibly due to drunkenness and/or premature senility.

I have been listening lots to the interesting sounds of Pure Reason Revolution and their lyrics make the sort of patterns that I like to make with words ... but somehow seem to usually make absolutely no sense whatsoever to me … yet (I've got Mobius Girl started on listening to them now; so hopefully her sharp mind and keen ear for lyrical prose can pick out some meaning there for me)!

This is to a friend I am about to lose......

Rescued

I was never sure who rescued who.

This little bundle of fur and teeth
Who tumbled excitedly into my life,
Or was it me when I took her from
A life of dirt and degradation?

We were each others constant friend,
Even Abby the Tabby warmed to her.
They slept cuddled together - even when
Kes grew too big to clean without a break.

They shared their food and water,
Sometimes with a cat in the bowl
And a claw on the nose -
Kes would stand patiently and wait.

She was my protector and confident.
Wiping away my tears with a cuddle,
Too big for my lap, swamping me
As she tries to give comfort -

As I now comfort her.

I sit with her head resting on my lap
My arms encircling her - holding on.
The vet says there is no hope -
There is no cure - my heart breaking....

My tears fall as I say 'goodbye'
Her eyes looking up - full of trust.
I will stay with her until the end
And let her gently go.

Please forgive the indulgence.....

Lovely sentiments. It is a fine thing to be truly loved by a cat

I cannot think it is indulgent to express your feelings amongst friends. Kudos to you for sharing

Indeed, a very nice piece; perhaps you might PM it to Nadina who has recently lost a beloved feline; I'm sure she would appreciate it (see also http://fishthecompany1.proboards55.com/i....ge=1#1124041745 with a previous companion)

Hmmm, while I'm here does anyone mind that I shamelessly plug Nadina's internet radio show? Oh, you do? In that case, PM me if you want to know details and I will respond - it's on Saturdays 6 - 8 pm)

Thank you for your kind comments......maybe, in the future, I might have another ' aberation' and put some of my other work up......or I might just go back to hiding....... :o

Beowulf ......I pm'd you to let you know more about Kes.....hope that's ok?

These were the most beautiful words I have ever heard uttered, and I am still in disbelief that they were written just for me by none other than my Beowulf...

I cannot even begin to articulate how much more I fell for you last night

You are absolutely the most fabulous thing that's ever happened to me

And I love you with every fiber of my being

I showed you my pain, and we cried, and shared, and I felt loved and comforted

You are my song, my harmony

And without you I could only live a joyless and broken life

Please come quickly to my arms, "Mobius Girl"

I love you, need you, must have you for always.

I love you, and miss you desparately, Beowulf! Though miles, and immigration separate us, I am there with you, and beside you always. Thank you for loving me, as promised. I feel your love for me from the very depths of your soul. I vow to you my undying love forever. Never could I love another as deeply as I love you. When I look into your eyes, I see and feel our love lasting for always.

Postscript...

Please don't let my carnation over there rot in a vase...*sob
