I don't have the remastered version of CaS - to which tracks do you refer Max? And is the remaster worth purchasing purely to own them?

The two disc remaster features several songs recorded post CaS/pre-split which include Lyrics used on Vigil along with the music that ended up on SE.
It can really throw you off the first time you hear Family Business sung with the music to Berlin (Story from a thin wall) etc.

Have a look towards the bottom of this page

Also here (clicky linky)
You can see the lyrics by clicking the track title.
The lyrics were never published so they were all transcribed from the remaster (not by me!)

Sorry, didn't mean to avoid the company site but there are snippets of trivia which match up the CaS songs with what they became from an M perspective.
Also included is Beaujolais day which was a demo from the CaS sessions, as you will hear bits were picked off musically and lyrically for a number of songs.

Anyway to return to the question

The answer is a most resounding YES!

Don't misunderstand me, I don't dislike White Russian, I just don't think it fits. As for Incommunicado, I think that does, it's the personal pronoun in the lyric, whereas White Russian is more in the 3rd person ( he says bravely, not checking the lyrics before posting :D )

Re: Jigsaw etc on Fugazi, I reckon Script and Fugazi are more of a thread of connected thoughts rather than full-blown concept albums so I've never approached either album in the same way as MC/CaS.

The CaS remaster is excellent. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Shadows On the Barley is absolutely brilliant! I really wish that one had been finished.

It's a lovely thought for the nostalgia market, and it was discussed to death on this forum a few months ago! BTW, the thread might seem like people are talking to themselves in one or two places! This is because several posts (including the OP) were removed at a later date...

The general consensus was that there was little to suggest that either party would be interested and that it would be a retrograde step. Also, where exactly would it leave Steve Hogarth?

I think that with over 20 years of water having passed under that particular bridge it would be a disappointment if it actually happened, with too many people's expectations unrealistically high.

Both Fish and Marillion have carved themselves out a cosy little niche with very a strong and supportive fanbase. Would they really attract hundreds of thousands more just by collaborating on a musical white elephant? Who would buy it apart from their existing fans I wonder? :?

Like you Spolly, I'd love to hear it though!! :D 8-)

I can understand why people think it's a soft and weak album with the likes of Kayleigh and Lavender, but that's because i think people are listening to individual songs. This album has to be listened to in it's entirity from begining to end to appreciate quality of album. :)

Great post. As for me, MC was the first i ever listened of Marillion, and I appreciated it immediately, although upon first listen there were a few songs that did not interest me as much, but as you say, they fit into the whole and when you listen to it in its entirety it really works. I also love the idea of a concept album, specially when I love the concept of the album! Everything just flows beautifully.

The opening notes of Pseudo Silk Kimono still get me every time, as does the ending trio of Blind Curve, Childhood's End and White Feather too. And I also want to mention Heart of Lothian (great great moment in that album)

Some of my friends (specially my Pearl Jam friends) laugh when they hear I am a big Marillion Fan (it somehow does not fit with a Pearl Jam fan), but there it is, i love old Marillion as much as I love Pearl Jam - and I will always love Misplaced Childhood.
