Heres the place to talk about Fish in general

...and back to the album...

In my ears 13th Star is probably Fish's strongest album overall. I've been spinning it about 684 times or so, and still I don't need the skip button. No fillers here.

I was absolutely blown away by 13th Star when i first heard it. Powerful and moving, enough for me to write a review for it on this site's discography pages (albeit under a different name). - In hindsight, i would probably demote it to third favourite Fish album, behind Sunsets and Vigil.

I think, taking into account what i love about Fish's previous stuff, 13th Star is just a little too guitar heavy and lacking in melodic keyboards. - I'd love to see Foss Patterson have lots to do on Fish's next album. Some might think it a step backwards after the modern-sounding 13th Star, but i think Fish is much more at home, lyrically and sonically, on something like 'Plague of Ghosts'. - I guess the trick is to find an emotive and inspirational subject, be that negative or positive, to base the next album's concept around. I've always been a fan of having a suite of songs, running into each other, such as Misplaced childhood.

As big a fan as i am of all of Fish's work, including 13th Star, my heart and mind were buzzing on first hearing 'Plague of Ghosts'. It felt as if Fish had come home to what he knew and where he belonged.

Downloaded this album from Amazon (oops, sorry! should probably have got it off here, but didn't know I could - that's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it ;) ) a few weeks ago when I first rediscovered Fish. Gotta say, having listened over and over to the title track, 13th Star, it's a beautiful piece of work. In my opinion, probably one of his very finest. :)
Thanked: 2

Thoroughly agree. 13th Star is a fantastic album. Not only my favourite Fish albums but also one of my favourite albums by anyone. I listen to it regularly. :D

I absolutely love this album too, I think I have said that before. ;)

I would love to see any of these songs live, but probably with a full band more than a stripped down acoustic set. Although I am sure the songs work well that way too.

Don't know when I will be able to make it to a gig, but I am growing restless!!

This album has been in my car stereo constantly for the past month and I still don't feel the need to change it just yet :)
