Good for you - it can be a bit heavy-going/hard to read but it is the ONLY book to deal with the fighting of High Wood in sufficient detail.

The shock people get is when they SEE the areas referred to - they expect huge swathes of land and trees - but in reality the are is very very small.

I took a look on Google and as you say the wood itself is a small area - the reality of so many dying in such a small area over a two month period is hard to imagine.
