Question

Why did Fish have his face painted when he appeared on stage back in the day?

Because he was quite shy and felt he could only perform behind some kind of disguise? I'm sure I read that somewhere... :?

Thanks, that's what I thought but when I mentioned it to a mate at the Whitstable gig he didn't know.

Don't take my word as gospel mind! There are other users of this forum who are far more anal (sorry - knowledgable) than I am! 8-) ;)

Conan's pretty much right.

From the Script sleeve notes:
Fish wrote:It was at a party in the halls that I'd wear full face make up for the first time in an effort to wind up the attending hoi polloi. I'd already decided to use full face make up when I did eventually discover my band. Inspired by Alice Cooper's theatricals, it was also going to be a mask to cover my shyness and lack of confidence as a singer/frontman.
