we neally lost him today but he is just hanging in there! Thank u all 4 u kind wishes it mean so much.x

I couldn't believe it when I found out about his accident on facebook! My dad was in a serious motorbike accident less than 6 weeks ago and it was touch and go like this for the first 2 and a half weeks. Smashed limbs, smashed ribcage, punctured lung, massive internal bleeding - then after keeping him going a week he caught pneumonia in hospital, a few days later the high temperature caused his organs to start shutting down and eventually his heart stopped. It's bloody amazing what they can do for you in an intensive care unit though - you couldn't be more reassured watching them going about their work - one to one care, 24-7. After a fortnight he regained consciousness and amazingly he's slowly on the mend now to at least a partial recovery - if a smoker in their late 60s can be helped through then someone like Rich is in a great fighting position, and he couldn't be in better hands.

The latest news from Sarah is that they have managed to stop the internal bleeding but they are having a look at one of his legs while he is in theatre.

Dreadful news.... like so many others, I have never met him or seen him perform, but he is still one of the company, so all my prayers are going out to the whole family.. xxxxx
