The Forum

This is not intended as a comment on any particular individual but as a general observation on the Forum as a whole which seems to suffering from a malady just now.

I have noticed that a number of individuals who used to post regularly are now absent and private messages to me have disclosed that they are tired of the bickering and sniping sometimes disguised as irony or sarcasm that goes on within threads.

I personally don't post as often as I do and tend to rely on blogs rather than get involved in "general discussion" issues because within a few posts they go off thread into personal arguments and the subject of the original post withers away.

With the launch of the fishheadsclub.com site later this month the traffic we hope to bring together from Facebook, Twitter and other media will be relayed through the new site onto www.fish-thecompany.com with the intention of rejuvenating the Forum and having a haven for others to join to discuss specific topics on Fish related issues.

With the current climate within the forum I don't think it's a particularly welcoming place for new members!

Rules we all should remember, and that includes myself

The basic, Think before you post. remember it may seem clever to you but it may not be taken the same way by others.Don't express opinions and expect everyone to agree.

Turn down the sensitivity buttons a shade before you reply to what just might not be a personal attack but an ill construed and badly conceived post.


If your post has nothing to do with the topic you are replying to post it elsewhere.There is nothing worse than wading through pages of guff to refind a thread. Stay on topic!

This should be a friendly place not a bickering, ranting den.

Let's get back to basics.

As I said this is not directed at any particular individuals so please remember the sensitivity settings.

I don't really want replies on this, I'd just like you all to take it on board and apply it when posting here and let's get this back to the Forum we really want it to be,welcoming, informative and fun.

I havent been on here too much recently .....

Partly because I'm busy but partly because one person seems to be deliberately winding people up and I would rather avoid being on here than rise to the provocation.

And this evening I was on Facebook and lo and behold the same person was being very negative and cynical about the Olympic games, which wound me up so I wrote something about it on here. Having read this topic by Fish, I have deleted my post.

However there is a certain person on here that winds a lot of us up. There are not many of us that contribute regularly and there may soon be even less.
So please would that certain person please be a bit more thoughtful in future.

Seriously, though, I've never really fitted in here. An honest opinion isn't really acceptable, particularly if it's constructive critisism - which gets turned into pretty nasty 'fire-back' and it's not really a forum to express an honest opinion without getting shot in the ankles.

I assume this is about something else, though.

Still, this is somewhere I only come now and again. I guess it's the same for quite a few.

I anticipate this post will be critisised and there won't be any prizes for guessing those who'll do that.

No criticism from me Sharon. - If not fitting in means being an individual with your own views and opinions, then I'm very glad that you don't, because your posts are always welcome and interesting.

And if it's your view that you don't fit in, which I personally don't agree with, please don't take that as meaning that you are not well-liked here, or that your posts and thoughts are not appreciated.

I don't agree with you Sharon. But what I disagree with is your statement that you don't fit in! You absolutely DO fit in here. Strong opinions are very welcome. Yes, it is true that some of yours in the past have generated some rather animated discussion, but that is no bad thing. It can certainly get a bit complacent in here and it is rather stimulating when opinions differ.
