It depends which way you go. There are two Gulf Air flights and one BA flight per day to LHR, so if I am going to Manchester these require a connection. The BA flight leaves at about 0210 in the morning and I try to avoid flying Gulf Air as the kit is a bit ropey.

So, I take a 55 minute flight to DXB, have a 2 hour layover and then a 7 hour flight to MAN, all on Emirates. Basically if I leave my house in Bahrain at about 0730 local, I walk out of Manchester Airport at about 1930 local, on the way back, I leave my house in Northwich at about 1145 and walk out of Bahrain Airport at about 0300 the next day. 20 minutes in a cab and I am home. The time difference between Bahrain and UK is +2 hours in summer and +3 hours in winter.

For the really sad people, like me, the equipment is as follows; BAH-DXB - A330-200, DXB-MAN - B777-300, MAN-DXB A380-800 (awesome) and DXB-BAH, A330-200

A long way! I envy you to have the chance to fly with planes lie these. But I'm sure, if you have it several times, you would be glad you don't need!

Dubai airport = purgatory... Been able to avoid Emirates since 2006. Bunch of incompetent that have given me more hassle than any other airline i have travelled with.

[stillofftopic] yes. Considering they (Emirates)nearly ruined my honeymoon, smashed 8 cases, left me stranded in Dhaka, sent a case to Lahore , via johannesburg, lost a case forever, tried to charge me for a new flight after a delay despite being in business class, gave me 4 nights in hospital on a drip for serving me food containing seafood despite my declaration and depite the meal bring deckared seafood free, canceeled my seat on a flight, despite me reconfirming it and being in business clas, lost a case in transit, which then took 3 weeks to catch me up, then arrived damaged beyond repair and empty [/stillofftopic]

[swear] emirates bunch of &@£&@&£@ [/swear]

I am not sure about DXB being purgatory, in my opinion it is much easier to get around DXB than CDG, FRA, AMS, LHR (if you have to change terminals), ORD and IAH

In the five years I have being flying with Emirates I have never had one single problem, although I can understand how all of that must have pissed you off.

In Europe I REFUSE to fly Ryan Air (don't give a f**k about the company travel policy) and will only fly Sleazy Jet under duress, had enough of stepping over piles of vomit to get on the plane and being surrounded by pissed up people with little or no social awareness.
Apols for off topic post.
