Eclectic to say the least, and despite loving Marillion/Fish, Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, Procol Harum and some Pendragon and Porcupine Tree, I still wouldn't regard myself as a 'Prog listener', as there are so many other genres of music I love equally as much, and also a hell of a lot of 'prog' I dislike. - I just love (what I consider) good music. :)

Right there with you, Paul - my musical tastes are so eclectic these days, if a song is good, I don't care who it's by [within reason, depending on the known political views of a band/singer - no Facists for me please, just a slug of milk and one sugar], I will dance, sing or cry/shout with joy when I hear something that pushes my Happy Button [No, don't start... ].

As for hubby liking the stuff I like.... well, despite being together for 20-odd years, we still share very few likes in terms of music and musicians; he actively hates a lot of what i love and I dislike a fair bit of what he likes. But, it seems to work and we do share a love of the following:

Jethro Tull
Fish [some albums only]
Marillion [with Fish] - I like them with and without Fish [tho' prefer them in Fish-led era], hubby not interested in post-Fish band.
Genesis
Rush
Show of Hands
Seth Lakeman
Oysterband
Levellers - tho hubby not interested in later stuff
3 Daft Monkeys [folk trio who do the festival circuit mainly - all gypsy violins and twangy guitars and amusing social comment]

Unfortunately, hubby's tastes do not extend to the likes of The Killers, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, Johnny Cash or Jane's Addiction and mine don't extend to [gulp] The Scissor Sisters, Anastacia  or Everything That Queen Have Ever Done [with Freddie out front] - i like a lot of early Queen and their last album together was fantastic but I'm not so keen on the "Space" era and other funky disco stuff - Nay, Nay and thrice Nay...

So, we tend to listen to music at home separately and in the car it's all neutral stuff - at present, my album of choice is "In Your Honour" by Foo Fighters and hubby's is some woman I've never heard of but cannot stand, so we have to switch CDs whenever we journey together..... Love eh? ;)
I'm gonna wipe those smiles of self-satisfaction from their eyes..
