There have been a few posts here recently that seemed to serve no purpose other than to slag off either Marillion or their forum.
Please remember folks that we are lovely fluffy people here and we don't need to sink to those depths!

I cannot claim to have read every post. However, what I have read about Marillion here has been - on the whole - constructive criticism based on rationally presented views. Part of our alleged 'fluffiness' is that we allow voices of disent to be heard. This should also include those who have objectively listened to Marillion's output, and viewed the way in which the MOLF is apparently run, and concluded that all is not well. We should also welcome those of another opinion (I too was guilty of pre-judging another's posts on that basis - this has been corrected now and I have openly apologised). By all means indicate to posters that there is a need to be carefull when being critical; but I cannot support that idea that reasoned critique is somehow wrong. Sorry if that does not sit comfortably, but it's just what I feel about the issue.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone though it's clear that some folks are more interested in being anti-Marillion than being Fish fans, one at least is on record as not even liking Fish.

Lets just make it clear that if you don't like something about either Marillion or their forum complaining about it here wont change anything, if you don't like the way things are done in Marillo land tell them not us!

Can someone please tell me why my posts are inappropriate? With specifics.

Do we have no right to comment or criticize? Do we not live in a democratic world?

Considering that Marillion and Fish are two of my favourite artists why can I not comment? I compliment as well as criticize. I am not slagging anyone, just voicing my disaappointment.

I forgot....

The Marillion group is set-up to talk about Marillion before and after Fish.

For the most part, Fish was a part of the majority of their successes, their failures are beyond Fish's control. That part I understand. If we are not to discuss Marillion after Fish, change the title of the posting area.

Marillion has put out exceptional music, in my view, except for .Com, Radiation, Anarak, and Somewhere. The jury is still out on HITR until I receive my copy.

Depends on how those comments or critisisms are phrased.

Running a forum isn't easy..... I do it myself for a completely non-music related interest, and the simple fact of the matter is that harshly worded critisism on a forum (especially on a topic that brings differing, strongly held opinions into conflict) is nothing more than flame bait, and achieves nothing except to fracture a community into opposing cliques if left unchecked by the forum admin.
So here I am once more.......

Good post! There are many fans who like both Fish and Marillion. But frankly, if I want to sing their praises I'll stick to the official forum. ;)

Well said, fellas. Icefishing, It was only your poll, not your opinion, that I had a problem with - I suspect the same is true of the mods. I may not agree with you, but at least (unlike others) you had a bash at trying to be constructive in how you stated it.

I've been guilty of this so hold my hand up to early post mischief. won't do it again, as the H/Fish debate is intractable as far as I can see. TBH though, I think both sets of fans are hopefully capable of pointing out where their respective heroes have been, as my Gran used to say; "Double toss with arse chips". Hagiography doesn't help either.

As a wise man once said :Bad reviews hurt and the good ones don't help.

I thangyew.
