Seemed like a good idea when I booked tickets, now it seems a bit daunting !
Its 30 years since my last festival experiences (Reading, Donnington and Knebworth !) and obviously things must have changed and I'm probably less willing to suffer too much discomfort !
So, do any of you have any good advice in terms of camping, car parking, eating, gear to take, food, money, seeing bands, loos, staying comfortable, clothing, staying dry etc....
And if any of you have been to the IOW festival in recent years what should we expect ?
Many thanks
It's funny, because I almost got tickets for that, but did not in the end. We could have met up there if I did!
From my experience with festivals (although not from IOW) if you get in there early, you can find better camping spots (closer to the venue too). Take food and drink, since everything they sell there will be expensive. You won't be allowed into the venue with it, but you can have it in the camping. Camping chairs are nice, and a gazebo thing if you are expecting lots of sun (which might not be the case here). Loos and showers will always have cues, but usually it is not too bad for the loos. Most festivals have ATMs now, so you can probably draw out money there, but take some cash too, just in case. Take one of those poncho things for the rain (they will probably sell them there too if they expect rain).
Also expect parties/music/drinking in parking lot areas after the shows are over. And lots of drunk kids haha.
None of this may apply to IOW, but that is my experience with festivals.
