I'm sure every member of this forum has seen this vid of Jigsaw on Youtube, but I'll post it again anyway! - Just about the best and most magical live version I've heard. - It's good to remember some of the crap new-romantic stuff that was filling up the charts at the time this song came about. - I consider myself very fortunate to have found this band and escaped the clutches of Spandau Ballet. :D

Look me in the eye and say Goodbye, what a line.
As soon as you realise, I'm perfectly happy, if I'm left to decide the company I choose.

Just gorgeous :D. Some new romantic with a flock of seagulls style haircut at the back of the crowd seemed to be enjoying it, let's hope they were converted from then on

The first I heard was Market Square Heroes, I actually went out and bought it because I had read a live review, probably in Sounds and seen a picture of Fish in his warpaint and decided that I needed to hear this band. I think that and Garden Party would be my favourite songs for the memories they inspire. Garden Party is amazing and as it was a breakthrough single it was great to show that one off to friends and family. Listening back I am struck by how modern Fish era Marillion sounded, how experimental they were musically and how powerful the lyrics are.

I absolutely agree, Fish era Marillion still have a really modern experimental sound, but I do often wonder if it sounds equally as modern to younger generations, or just us?! :? - Does anyone out there have kids that have taken to it and listen to it regularly? - Strangely enough, a lot of new up-and-coming young bands, to my ears, actually sound quite retro and derivative. - Music's a funny old thing! :? :D

Difficult one but I have been listening to Fugazi a lot recently and I still love Assassing.
I played it to death when it first came out. I love the music especially when it kicks in with teh Eastern sound and then into the choppy guitars and then the incredible lyris.
I thought that Fish had swallowed a dictionary !!!

Warm Wet Circles is just a classic song.

The poetic genius of 'Emerald Lies'. Well, all Fish stuff is poetically brilliant, but lines like,
"...And accusation's moths that circle around the light"
Char their wings in spiral senseless, suicidal flight" - are pure genius and worthy of the highest poetry award.
But like others...it's not easy to pick a favorite...there are many on each and every album (and B-side)

Totally forgot about Emerald Lies. - Not a song I listen to very often, but those are brilliant lines that you chose. - I love the kind of visual imagery that Fish conjures up with his words. He really does paint wonderful pictures.
