Each to their own, but I'm not sure what his hairstyle has to do with anything. I agree his vocal range has changed quite drastically over the years, but I like 13th Star a lot, music, lyrics and vocal delivery. Glad I came back to the Fish fold.

YO , I am a fish fan, but my patience is wearing thin, 13th star was a waist of 20 quid for me. i dont think any of the songs stand out. I just wish he still had the long hair at the sides and was back to his high vocals, all i hear now is Deep mumbling, and the rest of that band dont seem that good to me, i just listened to bits of Marillions new albulm 'Happiness is the road'' its superb, new , different, everything which 13th star isnt, sorry fish, raindgods was your best solo work, if you can do something like that again, i will buy c.d's.
Well everyone is entitled to their opion. all I can say is if you were looking for some kind of reaction you probably wont get it..
Signing up just to have a moan... and making personal insults..
How Brave is that...
I'm sure Fish would like to have the ability to sing the "High" notes again... I'm sure also he'd love to have his long hair back again...
I see you're still in you're early 30's - when you get to Fish's age, lets see if you can do everything like you did 17 years prior...
We all get older you know.
I'll re-iterate my feelings about 13th star.... Fantastic.
as for HITR - obviously this is far more suited to your taste. since it is full of high vocals.....
You can read my review of it else where..
Of course if you want to hear the high notes and reminisce about long hair you can always order up the "Early stages"...
Do note that I would post the same review on the marillion forum, if I thought that it would not get me suspended.... such is the freedom of speech over there....
There's enough MOLF'ers monitoring the forum over here and reporting whats said back home...

Just received my copy from the company this past week (great service by the way) & after a couple listens I have to say I really enjoy this latest effort. It is a very passionate disc & solid from beginning to end. I have all the Fish studio recordings & this is certainly his best for me at least anyway, I'm glad I purchased it.

Listening to it again recently after a break and how 'Arc of the Curve' never really broke through somewhere on radio will be a mystery to me for a very long time. ::)

sorry about the above quote, i know everyone has a opinion and our views on things are going to be different, but dismissing a very well written collection of thought evoking songs so easily seems a bit cold to me. as for stand out tracks, well 1-10 do it for me.perimiterwalker wrote:YO, C*ck.paul wrote:YO , I am a fish fan, but my patience is wearing thin, 13th star was a waist of 20 quid for me. i dont think any of the songs stand out. That's OK perimiterwalker, criticism if fine if it's constructive but the tone of paul's post was very negative - probably intentionally so because I've already deleted 2 of his (very similar) comments from the web site guest book.

yeah I really enjoy this disc & the production is terrific. Funny you mention "Arc of the Curve" as right now that stands as my favourite track so far, but I'm sure that may change as I continue to spin the disc
I have even convinced by brother who is a hardcore Fish Marillion era fan to explore Fish solo music a while back & now he wants 13th star as well, so back to The Company I go for another order

The 13thstar never fails to amaze me...
I have a mate down here,Alan, who is a Patio and path laying specialist, ( he call himself a Pathologist) but his real claim to fame is he spent a good few years as a wine waiter, and more latterly tour manager for the Stranglers.
We want (and need) to relay our little patio in our rear garden, so 2 weeks or so ago,I called in the experts.
13thStar playing as we discussed the in and outs of what my wife wants as her "new patio" vying it against what is physicaly possible due to drains, oil pipes etc ...
Alan whilst measuring up mentioned he rather liked the track that was playing ( Openwater) - who was the artist... Why Fish of course!..... really.... Turns out Alan was a "pre-split" Marillion fan, and post split lapsed away from the music. He actually worked on a few of the festivals where marillion were on the bill. His sister even named her daughter ( his niece) - Kayleigh
It became a long meeting, sat in the garden, with the patio heater, two or six beers and 13thStar being played from beginning to end as darkness fell over the fields and the stars came out to play....
He's been off since and bought most of the back catalog, and we've planned another Fishy night for Thursday to start with Vigil and work through the back catalog ..
Another fan signed up thanks to the 13th Star...

A strange thing happened, while is was in Greece recently, I was driving up through the Thessally plains and had the ipod on the go and had it in shuffle, and no less than half of 13th star were mixed with Micheal Bouble and that was it out of 7000 songs...
There was something about listening to the Arc of the Curve while driving though a very emotive area.. and the wife loves it! thats saying something.
