I still haven't got this album. I have listened to excerpts and heard a bit more of some songs.I prefer what I see as the more 'rockier' numbers, but I'm not an expert.I'm liking Circle Line, Manchmal and there's one more I can't remember! ;)

Definitely recommended! Also, the artwork is amazing on the gatefold box... 8-)

I kind of agree with dazed, dont get me wrong, i think its a great album, but I too, like the 'rockier' stuff, I first loved fish thru marillion, obviously, and that is where my heart is, times change, and things move on, and all credit with13th star, but see the crowd when the man does the old stuff.Basically, a genius, and never recognised to his full ability, except by all of us!
As soon as you realise, I'm perfectly happy, if I'm left to decide the company I choose.

The rocky numbers are great, but I think that in some ways they showcase the band skills and the direction of the composer (Steve Vantsis on much of 13th Star) more than they show Fish's lyrical abilities. That's not to say that the words are secondary, but I personally think that some of Fish's best work is shown in the slower, ballad-type tracks - not just on 13th Star, but all through his career. 8-)

Feel free to disagree with me of course! ;)

I agree with Conan !

The rocky numbers ( and I like Rocky numbers) are superb but the slower tracks on the album fit in perfectly and for me it's up there with Vigil and I have to say i nver thought even though it was his first solo album that it would be surpassed but 13th Star has got pretty close !
