I was listening to Sunsets while at work a long while back.
A friend of mine wondered why I was listening to a song about Mork and Mindy
"Nanu nanu, nanu nanu, nanu nanu, nanu nanu Brother 52!"
Misheard Lyrics

Re: Misheard Lyrics
oh yes, how could I forget my version of White Russian (I really cannot understand what Fish is singing many times). Thank God for printed lyrics.
It took me a while to figure out he was singing about uzis in a street corner, and not something oozing in a street corner
But my favourite is the part where he sings about raising the clutter... whatever that means
Raising the clutter, are we raising the clutter?
I feel like he could be describing my room.

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

Re: Misheard Lyrics
Thought I'd resurrect this old thread, as I laugh when I hear Pipeline and Fish singing:-
"If the lady that I'm waiting on is a man"
Well I think that's what he's singing!!

Re: Misheard Lyrics
Just Good Friends. For ages I thought it was:
"Are we left to transmissions - is that all we can depend on."
Clearly Fish and his girl were fans of chatting on CB radio...

Shazbatt!!
I want a drink, I want a drink. To take all the dust and the dirt from my throat. I want a drink, I want a drink. To wash out the filth that is deep in my guts.... I want a drink.

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I can't believe I've only just read this thread !
Fess'up time from me now...
Whilst spending some time with Fish sipping vin blanc in Francais - I told him I had something to confess....that for years (thanks to a poor quality cheap student type stereo) I thought the lyric was:-
"....and the man in the mirror has salad"
I got a 'look'
at least I feel I've fessed up to the man himself - I am free from shame now.
However I have yet to tell him I thought the lyric was "...her mother thought her beautiful, her father said 'ahaaaa''
I put it down to me being a sweet innocent youth.

Re: Misheard Lyrics
Incommunicado---' and I dont give a damn for the fleet street'----I'm sure sometimes I hear the word f***, instead of damn

As soon as you realise, I'm perfectly happy, if I'm left to decide the company I choose.

hahaha that is brilliant. I always heard "a whore" in that one though, what does that say of me?

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I recently found out I was singing two Pearl Jam songs wrong.
My version/Real version
I see the verse in the rain / I see the birds in the rain
I don't want to hurt, there is so much in this word to make me believe / I don't want to hurt, there is so much in this world to make me bleed
Problem is, I like both my versions better.

I realise I hold the key to freedom. I cannot let my life be ruled by the bloody threads on this Forum.
