Things you always wanted to ask Fish

Please read this thread and look at Fish's answers to find out if your question has already been asked. If it hasn't, please add it at the end of this topic by clicking the "Post reply" button.
When Fish answers a question, this thread will be locked temporarily while the question and answer are moved into a new topic. If this thread is locked, please wait a moment or two and then try again.
If you have more than one question to ask, please make more than one post so that Fish can quote your question with an answer.
When a question has been answered and is in a new topic, please don't ask another question below that - use this thread.

Could I please ask everyone to take note of the fact that this topic is only for asking Fish a question.

If you want to add a comment, please do so AFTER Fish has answered or in another thread, not this one. The questions and answers will be split into new topics very quickly so please wait until they've been separated.

If you want to answer someone's question, please do so by private message to them. Questions have been asked here for Fish to answer.

This might sound a bit strict (sorry! ) but please consider that Fish reads through for questions to answer and has to trawl through chatter to find them! Also, members have taken the time to add a question only to see it disappear into the distance. Please be considerate!

Comments and chatter will be deleted from this thread from now on. Thanks everyone! :hatoff:

Any plans to record any of the Fishheads Tour? Your voice is sounding great, the set is great and it's obviously a lot different to your normal gigs. Would seem a shame not to record some of it for posterity.
thanks
Rich

After last night at Cambridge where your voice sounded even further improved - I'd like to re-pose this one. We'll omit the beginning of Tongues from last night though ;)

Hi Fish
Me and my brother went to the Cambridge gig on the Fishheads tour. I must admit to being a little worried on hearing that it would just be yourself, Foss and Frank. However, apart from a loud drunk sitting next to me I found the whole evening extremely enjoyable. The songs were stripped down and worked so well with every word clearly audible.
My question is, will you be doing more of this type of tour? You seemed to enjoy the simplistic format and connection with the crowd. Thanks for some terrific music :D

Two lead guitars

Postby stillcamwaters on Wed Jul 21, 2010 3:34 pm

Hi Fish

I was wondering when you first started using two lead guitarists and what inspired that decision. Does it give any difficultly when you do old Marillion songs that I assume were intended to only have one or do you think it further enhances them?

Best Wishes

Any chance of you aquiring a recording of the Buster Brown's/Radio Forth gig from '89 that could be made available as a download via the Company? I had a tape of it from the time of broadcast, sadly my then 3 year old killed it in '97

It was a four song set, Gentleman's Excuse Me, The Company, think Sugar Mice and Internal Exile, you also broke your '25k Rolex' and the insurers wouldn't cover it

Also, DO MORE GIGS IN EDINBURGH. Please.

Cheers the noo.

Hello Mr. Fish, I would like to know what music instrument you use to compose, if any. Thank you :ugeek:

Heyho Mr. Fish, I've always thought you look a tad like my Dad and he gets mistaken for Sean Connery especially when he (Dad!) wears his kilt and so I was wondering if you've ever been confused with another such as Mr. Connery?

Cheers the noo.

Tynepark

Postby Angua2 on Sat Jul 31, 2010 11:49 am

Hiya! Nervous New Member (aka NNM) would like to ask if you know about the Tynepark Garden project and if you are supporting the superb work they are doing in the Haddington & wider community...? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tynepark-Garden-Cafe-Project-Peoples-Millions-Finalist/188132873712

Also, are you aware of the difficulties they are having in securing Planning Permission from the ELC, despite having won a People's Millions grant? I think I remember that you've some experience/background in matters horticultural... Anyhow, all the very best from Sunny Dunny and new/old fans! Ta & cheers.

If at some stage you were offered an acting role in a series, and the said series turned out to be a huge success (maybe even Stateside) with all of it's financial rewards, would you consider packing in the music business.
