Things you always wanted to ask Fish

Please read this thread and look at Fish's answers to find out if your question has already been asked. If it hasn't, please add it at the end of this topic by clicking the "Post reply" button.
When Fish answers a question, this thread will be locked temporarily while the question and answer are moved into a new topic. If this thread is locked, please wait a moment or two and then try again.
If you have more than one question to ask, please make more than one post so that Fish can quote your question with an answer.
When a question has been answered and is in a new topic, please don't ask another question below that - use this thread.

Could I please ask everyone to take note of the fact that this topic is only for asking Fish a question.

If you want to add a comment, please do so AFTER Fish has answered or in another thread, not this one. The questions and answers will be split into new topics very quickly so please wait until they've been separated.

If you want to answer someone's question, please do so by private message to them. Questions have been asked here for Fish to answer.

This might sound a bit strict (sorry! ) but please consider that Fish reads through for questions to answer and has to trawl through chatter to find them! Also, members have taken the time to add a question only to see it disappear into the distance. Please be considerate!

Comments and chatter will be deleted from this thread from now on. Thanks everyone! :hatoff:

Edited by the Union team - thanks for the first post, Andriyt!

A few questions if I may:

1. What is the best book to buy about you with regards to the true story (thats if any exist) and are you working on one?

2. Have you ever thought of revisiting some of the material from the remastered version of Clutching at Straws (ie Beaujolais day etc)

3. What has been your facourite gig of the recent tour?

4. Which would you rather: Hibs win the SPL or Scotland the 2012 Euros?

5. Which song of yours do you hate and wish you could wipe from history (both from Marillion days and solo)

that'll keep you going!

Dear Fish,

Do you ever have folk send you songs for your albums?

If so, have you used any or considered using any?

Hi Fish, I'm 16 and a huge fan but I cant go to any of your gigs due to the 18+ restrictions, and could have been at your gig at the Cluny if it werent for these, any chance of removing the 18+ restriction?

Thanks, Greeny

Hi Fish

I am starting a new career managing a band called Blueskin Fever

http://www.myspace.com/blueskinfevermusic

These guys are just on the 2nd rung of the ladder - They've played a few gigs, recorded 3 tracks at a studio, and got a good reception, and I would like them to do more on the pub circuit, to build a loyal following and to get more experience. But what would you recommend to help us all out on our long journey with regards to gigs etc

Cheers

Fish
The sensitivity, emotion and personal experiences you share through your lyrics and so on stage I think are admirable.Do you find it easy to share them in these ways?

Hey Fish,
did you know that you have some fans among people more into extreme music (Death & Black metal e.g.)? Musicians like Mark "Barney" Greenway (Napalm Death) and Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath and numerous more) often name you and Marillion not really as an inspiration to their Death/Black metal music but naming your music as some of their faves.
Said Dan Swanö also has two projects which he partly sees as his personal tribute to Marillion/Fish music. These projects are called UNICORN (not active anymore) and NIGHTINGALE.
If you're interested - here are some songs to check out ;)
Of course they don't sound exactly as your music but claim to have at least been influenced.

A friend and I are great fans of grass roots football and over the last year or two have travelled up from England and discovered the delights of Scottish Junior Football, in particular the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup. Has Fish had much exposure to the Juniors? and if so waht does he think of the Junior game?

Screen Acting

Postby Keith on Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:39 am

Hi Fish,

I wanted to ask you about your acting ambitions. I know you've recently done Electric Man and wondered if you've anything else in the pipeline? I'm a writer and I've got a screenplay I'd like you to have a look at. I could see you as the main protagonist. Would you be interested in taking a look, and if so how would I get it to you?

Saw both of your shows at The Cluny in Newcastle this year - superb.

Thanks

Keith
