Well, I have been signed up to the forum for a couple of weeks now (I was so moved by Fish's recent Glasgow gig that I had to right my thoughts on just how brilliant it was for a web-site I'm involved with and then took the plunge and posted it on the gig thread, thanks for the nice replies, even with the embarrassing typo!), however I thought I should introduce my self properly.
The name's Steven Reid and darkblue comes from the boring fact that I am a Dundee FC supporter, although supporting that club is never bloody boring. I'm not from Dundee though as I come from just up the road from there in Perth.
I've been a Marillion fan since my brother bought 'Market Square Heroes' way back when and I have followed both Fish and Marillion ever since and have a large (although I'm sure not THAT large compared to some here) record and CD collection from both. Fish's music has been a constant companion throughout my life and something that I just couldn't be without.

Hi Steven! You're in good "Company" here my friend! Hope to see you at Haddington at the end of next month...
Enjoy yourself and post as much as you want to! We'll always listen, and maybe even reply!

I want a drink, I want a drink. To take all the dust and the dirt from my throat. I want a drink, I want a drink. To wash out the filth that is deep in my guts.... I want a drink.

Hello Steven, nice to meet you. I am from Argentina and have been a fan of Marillion and then Fish since 1996, as has happened to me many times, discovering a band long after they had stopped being one. It feels like I am always taking these trips to the past.
Hope you enjoy the forum and come visit often.

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

Hello Steven too and thanks all for the warm welcome.
To be honest, I've not really come to terms with navigating around here and so, sorry, hadn't seen the warm welcomes until now.
I've decided its nigh on impossible to navigate on my phone and so back to the old desktop....
I certainly take the point that the traffic around here is gentler and no intention of being a boye-racer (see, I can do the puns too) and look forward to meeting individuals in Haddington in October when I make my first return there since 2001.
So yes, where do I come in here? Well, there was a brilliant DJ (sadly died a couple of years ago) called Phil easton on Radio City in Liverpool I started listening to back in,oooh, 1982? He hated Marillion - thought they were the total Genesis rip off merchants they (in hindsight) may partly have been
and avoided them with a passion.
Red rag to a bull. He was forced to play Market Square Heroes on Dec 27 1982 when it was voted number 9 in his listeners top ten singles of the year and guess that was my first drag on this life enhancing cigarette.
In 1983, the sheer vitriol of his questioning to Fish in an interview before a Royal Court gig was as memorable as the laxadaysical response from the, then, monosybalic six foot five frontman.
Of course, by 1985 Kayleigh was his record of the week...
So thats where I come in. In 1988 I had the good fortune for my favourite band to split into two and form my two favourite artists. And its been pretty much that way ever since. Sure, a few hiccups along the way but, you know, thats life.
In 2010 older, wiser and passionate about music. Not a troll, just wear my heart on my sleeve. Not that I've heard from him for a decade (probably after he blamed me for keeping monksmuir awake all night with the norwegian chorus of grendel) but Andy Westmoreland once honoured me with the quote, "what i like about you JB is you slag everybody off and equally."
I'll try and behave though...
JB
