Sorry Conan, ( and TatMan)...

if I upset you... it was absolutley not intended... and nor was I trying to make you out as a special case. I sensed frustration , but you did state you felt no-one showed any empathy with your circumstances or engaged you in forum discussions.. possibly because they showed no empathy, but possibly also because they did not have any suggestions. :!: it does happen.

I agree with how the written word can be misinterpretted, mine often is too, (as is my sense of humour !). which is why I absolutely hate SMS (texting!) and tend to use smilies , even in my emails at work! ;)
I was trying to offer suggestions.. :( but maybe they were too obvious.. :?:

I actually contacted my friend who lives in Warwick to ask him to ask around about child care/ creche/ kindergartens in Warwick.. He told me there are of course a few, but they tend to be closed at the weekend, as one would expect, but perhaps if they got enough enquiries .... :?:

Oh and I know how it goes with "complicated" parents ( or parents in law!)! :x

right , off now to finish my humble pie with a cup of coffee..... :drinks:

I'd suggest to just book your parents services now for that weekend to be on the safe side. Better to book and cancel and maybe lose face, and maybe to have ot buy them dinner for a month, than to miss theconvention.. ;)

I'll drop you an email in addition to this.....

I know. To stop my Dad from moaning that he hasn't been able to come to a convention since Enschede, I've decided to bring him along. :-/ Then I can blame him for not taking better care of me if all goes wrong .

Result!

My folks have agreed in principle to have the bairn for the convention weekend in August! The "in principle" bit refers, I think< to the fact that they do not like to be seen as having nothing planned for six months in the future!! :)

Will look at booking hotels today.... Are many people in the Holiday Inn? Their tarriff looks very confusing.... how much are people paying? How does that compare to the smaller family-run hotels nearer the venue?

Company membership arrived yesterday, so its full steam ahead to Leamington Spa!!!! :mexwave: :groovy:  :'( :-/

So what is the advice regarding getting a ticket ? Myself and 3 or 4 friends are planning on coming up to Lemington Spa from South Wales. Do we need to be Company members to attend or is the convention open to the general public ?

Thanks for any advise.

Well, it's a fan club convention isn't it, previous form has been that members can bring a guest but I don't know if that will be the same this time.

I hope so, otherwise I'll have to convince my dad to join the Company. Is there an OAP discount, by any chance?

Only if there's also a good-looking IT guy discount :D
