Fish May 2007 - press release Fish releases his new live project "Communion" this month on mail order through his official web site www.the-company.com A double live CD in 3 panel digipak with original artwork by Mark Wilkinson, recorded by Calum Malcolm (Blue Nile, Prefab Sprout) at St Mary's Church Haddington in August last year, "Communion" is a live acoustic collection of tracks chosen from throughout Fish's 26 years as a singer/ songwriter. Some of the songs have never previously been performed live and Fish with his band Frank Usher and Andy Trill, guitars, Steve Vantsis, Bass, Gavin Griffiths, Drums, Tony Turrell, keyboards and augmented by Dave Haswell, percussion and a backing vocal section comprising of Heather Findlay and Angela Gordon from "Mostly Autumn" and Anne Marie Helder (ex Karnataka) have created a magical performance which is fans are proclaiming his best ever live work to date. "The show was very special and having missed the opportunity to record it on previous occasions it seemed ideal to capture this performance, which was part of the fan club weekend, and cast another light on a range of material we don't often get a chance to play live. Having the backing vocalists and Dave on percussion gave another dimension and it was great to have the space in the arrangements to allow the songs to shine" This is the first release on Fish's own Chocolate Frog Record Company label and is available on mail order only through his recently revamped and redesigned website www.the-company.com for £11.99 plus vat. Fish on Friday -Planet Rock Fish is also a presenter on Sony award winning Digital station, Planet Rock and has a programme "Fish on Friday" on which he plays a vast array of rock music including weird and wonderful progressive rock as well as demo material from his forthcoming studio album "Thirteenth Star". The programme airs on Fridays between 6pm and 8pm and is repeated on Sunday's 7-9pm. More information can be found at www.planetrock.com Fish TV Fish in collaboration with AVP Ltd and Webrom has put together an innovative idea which involves a subscription streaming service which will provide hour long programmes every month containing in depth interviews and footage from his own studio during the creation of the "13th Star" album as well as archive material from throughout his career and insights into the artist never before available. "It was very daunting at first and I didn't want to succumb to a reality TV ethic but I think we found a great balance of material that will excite fans and give them another perspective on the way albums are created and the inner workings of recording and touring. I have recently had my entire personal tape library of film I shot from the very beginning of my solo career in 88, the first rehearsals and writing sessions to the first gig in Lockerbie right through to the US tour in 97 and beyond, transposed to DVD. There's a lot of material some outrageous some achingly funny that I have available for this Fish TV project and I think the fans will love this new addition to the website. It really compliments what we are trying to do in developing stronger relationships with fans and providing something beyond just releasing albums and touring. I think this is the beginning of a new and exciting opportunity and a model that I think quite a few more bands will take up in the future." New Studio album "Thirteenth Star" Fish began writing his new album in January this year shortly after concluding the highly successful "Return to Childhood" tour which had him on a worldwide tour for nearly two years. "13th Star" is co-written with long time close friend and bassist Steve Vantsis with additional writing from guitarist Frank Usher and returning "new" keyboard player, Foss Paterson (John Martyn). The album begins principal recording this month with Calum Malcolm assuming role of producer. Gavin Griffiths will be on drums with other new boy Chris Johnson taking up position as second guitarist. The album has 10 tracks "Circle Line", "Square Go", "Miles de Besos", "Zoe 25", "Arc of the Curve", "Manchmal", "Open Water", "Dark Star", "Where in the World" and "13th Star". Album demos have already been played on Fish's Planet Rock show and the response from fans has been highly enthusiastic recognising Fish's unique style within a highly rhythmic and energised rock framework which is combined with strong melodies and a modern Prog feel to potentially offer Fish's most powerful album to date. "Thirteenth Star" is scheduled for release in August this year initially on mail order only through the official Fish web site www.the-company.com "Clutching at Stars" tour 2007 After the phenomenal success of the "Return to Childhood" tour which saw a full performance of the celebrated Marillion album "Misplaced Childhood" on it's 20th anniversary Fish has decided to repeat the formula this time with his last album he made with his old band, "Clutching at Straws". ""Clutching" was always my favourite album from the "Marillo" days and with its 20th anniversary this year it made sense to follow on from the success of the previous tour. Fans want more than just the obligatory new album in the set and to perform the entire "Clutching" album makes the gigs more of an event and great entertainment. As with the "RTC" tour last year the first hour is focused on my solo material and obviously with "13th Star" containing a lot if strong material, which is not far away from the feel of "CAS" in some ways, it's going to be a powerful set overall" The tour begins with a series of open airs in Germany and Norway before it sets of in the UK in September.
